Dr. Derek Marshall is currently the owner and Manager of Dental Care Clinic and has spearheaded this practice for over thirty years. Dr. Marshall is a graduate of Howard University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science (hons.), Cum laude, in chemistry. He then went on to furthering his studies at Temple University in Philadelphia where he attained a Doctorate in Medical Dentistry (D.M.D) degree in 1991.
Dr. Marshall also concurrently serves as the Senior Dental Consultant in the Ministry of Health Wellness, Environment and Social Transformation (MOHWE &ST); and, as such he is charged with the overall responsibility of advising and implementing of the National public health programmes throughout Antigua.
Dr. Marshall is also currently the Chairman of the Antigua and Barbuda Medical Registration Board (ABMRB ) and in this capacity, he is charged with leading the board in the registration of all dentists, opticians and optometrist that are eligible and wish to practice in the State of Antigua and Barbuda. Dr. Marshall is also the Immediate Past President of the Antigua and Barbuda Dental Association (ABDA) and has recently been elected the new Vice–President of ABDA in the 2023 duly constituted elections. In the dental profession, Dr. Marshall has a vast wealth of knowledge as he continues to participate in various continuing education progammes; and encourages his peers and dental ancillaries to do the same. Dr. Marshall has been directly involved in recruiting and training many of the dental ancillaries locally, thus impacting positively on the standard of care in dentistry, island wide.
In his spare time, Dr. Marshall enjoys spending time with his family, usually at the beach. Dr. Marshall also strongly believes in giving back to his community and as such he has been a past member of Rotary club of Antigua and Rotary Sundown. Moreover, he has been an active volunteer in the Antigua and Barbuda Swimming Federation (ABSF). Where he has given yeoman service as President (ABSF) from 2019 to 2023, and volunteered in many occasions as a local and regional Technical Official, selflessly assisting in the growth and development of young and talented local athletes. Dr. Marshall is married to his wife of twenty-nine years, Mrs. Ann Maria Marshall. They have two sons, of which one is also aspiring to be a dentist.
